upcycling elevated to an art form! roughly translated as ‘torn and reused clothing’, boucherouite rugs are made from recycled fabric strips…that’s what gives each of these pieces their wild, shaggy texture. this piece exudes a frenetic kind of energy, but brings you back into focus with the evil eye lozenge symbols (for protection) in the center. plums, aubergines, hunter greens and bright turquoise come together to balance the color palette out across the zig-zag pattern.
handmade by Berber women in the middle Atlas mountains of Morocco, Ourika tribe. 40″ x 78″
